The Travel expert, Jessica Wright, is the creative blogger behind Bon Traveler and she just finished off a week-long road trip with Visit California exploring all that Gold Country has to offer. On her road trip, she stopped by Placerville, California. This town was once called Dry Diggins, a reference to an old mining technique of using water to sift gold nuggets from dry soil. In 1849, a year after the discovery of gold in nearby Coloma sparked the Gold Rush, the settlement became known as Hangtown, for the multiple hangings of robbers and outlaws in the town center. Now Placerville is a great road-trip destination which offers many activities from their historical main street to their exquisite wineries nearby. Check out Jessica’s recent Instagram post for a guide on what to do when stopping in Placerville.

In the meantime, here’s a quick guide to save for later!” – Jessica Wright
